Faculty members are involved in research on several aspects of air pollution, including quantification of emissions of ultra-fine particles from gasoline and Diesel engines and assessment of the impact of vehicle related emissions on air quality. Research on fire physics include characterization of the interaction between lines of wildfires, emission of particles from wildfires and investigation of the mechanisms that lead to the formation of dense “super fogs” when forest fires are smoldering.
